Of course THE CHURCH doesn’t like the shirt and nor should it. It is a big sacred bureacratic institution. But hello, it is a damn funny shirt! And I get to like it, though it isn’t something I would really wear. There are some great points made in the article referenced by Steve. Like, “there’s a difference between making fun of our religion and pointing out the quirks of our culture.” But some were concernced “the slogan implied wearers wished they could drink, smoke or have casual sex but were prevented only because they are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.” Of course that is why we don’t do that stuff. DUH! What planet are you living on? It is our belief in God and eternal life that gives us the strength, determination, and basic desire to “throw off the natural man” and take control of our hormonally overcharged bodies. I am not saying that only the religious can have this desire. But, for 99% of us it is because of our religion that we willingly choose to obey God’s commandments and therefore refrain from behavior that could do us harm physically, mentally, and/or spiritually. So, yea, “I can’t, I’m Mormon” pretty much sums it up.
