Granted, I have never met Brian and I am not qualified to say if he does or does not need speech therapy but I will tell you this from personal experience:
Lauren was well over two before she began speaking. I took her for a check-up and Sharon (6 years older, remember) went into the office along with us. I mentioned my concern that she was not more verbal than I remembered Sharon being. The peditrician asked Lauren several questions — all of which Sharon replied to. The Dr. had a little smile on his face and looked me in the eye and said — “There’s your answer!” Lauren, the baby, the princess, did not NEED to talk as her big sister did it for her!!! Wow — we hadn’t even noticed. We just always considered Sharon the doting sister. When we explained to Sharon that Lauren needed to answer her own questions so she could practice talking, Sharon was wonderful about it! Eventually, Lauren found her words.
But come to think of it — Lauren is the shy one anyway and not much of a talker to this day! I wonder how much of it is wrapped in their personality? Sounds like a great study!
Done babbling — how ironic is that?!?

Auntie M
