How to Stay Inspired After SxSW Podcast Is Up!

Now, you can all hear the madness of our panel, even if you can’t see it. It’s too bad you can’t, because you’re missing me beaning unsuspecting audience members with saltwater taffy, the confetti cannon and the awful sight of me getting my swerve on (I hope I used that correctly).
I know I haven’t written much about SxSW since I got back, but as I predicted in the panel, the daily routine has eaten my soul – plus the stresses of moving. Thankfully, I followed my own advice and took a lot of notes during panels, and then made a list of what I want to do with what I learned. More will be divulged later, but now I need to get the kids ready for school.

Quickie Update

We’re moving this weekend, yay. The house is a more worn than the one we are in now, but it is in a better location and much cheaper, so yay. Best of all, we won’t be kicked out of it! (Knock on wood.)
The boys are both doing well in school and are feeling better.
Kevin is busy at work. I am not sure how he is feeling though.

Bummer!

I didn’t pay attention to the school’s schedule which is really a shame because I missed out on the perfect opportunity to sneak up to Virginia so the boys could see the Lawver clan. Max has a half day on Friday for teacher’s planning and is off Tuesday for St. Patrick’s Day. (Yes, you read that right, the schools are closed for St. Patrick’s Day.) Taking Max out for a day and a half, we could’ve enjoyed four whole days in Virginia. Boo to my lack of planning. Remind me about this next year, ok?
Speaking of days off, Kevin has an uncanny ability to be out of town when Max has a day off. Hmmmmmm.

Kevin is going out of town tomorrow and this afternoon he came home at 1:15. The boys and I danced around and squeeeeed! How awesome is it that he gets to spend the afternoon with us???
Kevin came in, got something he forgot to take to work, and left again.

Adapting to Web Standards SXSW Autograph Tour Giveaway

Christopher came up with a great idea. Since four of us who wrote Adapting to Web Standards will be at SxSW, he’s doing a little giveaway. Get all four of our autographs and you could win a copy of our excellent book (really, it’s good).
In other news, we launched our first public web app at work recently, and I’d like to ask a favor. If you know any independent bands, could you please please please ask them to check out uPlaya Artists? I’d love to hear what they (or you) think of the site! A lot of hard work went in to it (even though, as you can see, there are still several “coming soon” banners on features).

Kevin is always right!

I shall not question him anymore. Except sometimes.
Two hours at the doctor’s office, hundreds of dollars, six medicines… Max has asthma, an ear infection, allergies.
All three of my boys have asthma now. Woe.

Home is where the family photos hang

We found a new rental house, yay. We’ll be moving in about 3-4 weeks. I have already started packing and am glad I never fully unpacked in the first place. The second thing I am going to do once we move in is personalize the new place and make it home. At least the family room and the boys’ room. I already know what I want, now I just need to find it. Some of these items could make excellent birthday presents (hint, hint). Be expecting a list soon, Kev!
