Ok, I finally broke down and set my Tivo (TV's best friend) to record VM. However, the first nite didn't record b/c it was up against Frontline and Boston Legal...and as it was a new season pass it got the boot. Soooo, I visited TV's second best friend Bit Torrent and grabbed the ep. Finally got around to watching it and found it to be enjoyable. Not scream from the rooftops good (Six Feet Under, The Wire, My Name is Earl), but enjoyable. Eps 2 and 3 were also good. Can't really put my finger on why I like it, but I do. So, I'll stay watching. I'll let you know when I figure out why I like it....

YAY for you trying it! But you HAFTA HAFTA HAFTA start with season one. I mean, if you know who the killer is, it may be slightly less than the awesomest thing ever, but you should totally watch season one because DUDE.

Agreed about the look and feel of last night's episode - I personally love the 'light shining through the stained glass' effect in Keith's office - it's as close to the hardboiled noir look as you can get without dumping to black & white.

I suspect that we've got a ways to go yet before the rape mystery is solved. Just as with earlier VM mysteries, the obvious answer isn't always the right one.

Re: Parker - remember that she was shown shaved and trying on wigs in earlier episodes. Rumor has it that the actress never actually shaved her head, and that her hair is currently being done up to "look" like it's a wig. Still, I love the irony of Parker screaming at Veronica about thinking she's the campus slut while wearing a tanktop that says "You couldn't afford me."

I have a suspect in mind for the rapes, but we aren't being given enough clues, dagnabit, to make more than an educated guess at this point.

Ha, I never noticed what was written on Parker's shirt! Good eye! I guess I was busy looking elsewhere.

Well the upside of having not seen Season 1 is that I didn't know there WAS a killer or even who was killed. Ahhh ignorance is bliss.

(now that I think about it, I'm remembering a reference to an earlier tragedy...that must be it.)

Jim, as much as I want you- and everyone else- to watch this season of VM, you should take a week or two and watch S1, and then go back to this season. There is so much character awesomeness to be experienced, it will only heighten your enjoyment of later eps.

Disaster has struck! Our DirectTV DVR failed us again, but this time in the most horrible way possible. It failed to record Veronica Mars! The horror! The horror! Okay, so I don't really care, but Monica is pretty bummed. Is there a way to get the most recent episode on the web? Oh, is there?

About Gilmore Girls, you're so right! I hadn't made the pickles/rotten eggs connection, but you're right! That's really really lame. You're also spot on about those ridiculous Aerie girls. I think it's at least appropriately named, since they all seem to be complete airheads.
As for the rest of the episode, though, yup, no need to Luke - I haven't been so sure about the whole Christopher thing, but that final scene in the car clinched it for me. Luke's permanently out of the picture for me, it's just right that Chris and Lorelai grow up and end up back together. They just fit, and Rory fits in too - they're a better, more cohesive family now, and that's what they all need.
Which made me happy - some evidence that maybe the new guy can save the show after all. If only that pickle thing hadn't happened... it all seemed a bit stupid anyway. But ah well, at least it's heading in a good direction.
