If you get tired of KDE, how do you switch to another window manager? Well, it's pretty easy. In some distros, the utility to accomplish this is a little hard to find, so here's how to do it from a terminal prompt. In your current window manager, open up a terminal window and type
switchdesk and hit enter. That should pop up a nice little app where you can select one of the Window Managers installed on your system. Choose the one you want, and click OK. Now, logout and log back in. You should have your new Window Manager up and running.
This is a lot easier if you start X automatically and come to a nice GUI screen when your machine boots up. The available window managers are usually located in a menu called "Session". Most login screens default to "last session", so if you login to that manager once, it should log you into that one the next time you login too.
