2003.12.07 Dublin Day One

This is St. Mark's. It's not on a hill, I was just listing a little. No sleep, you know how it goes.
Look, Max, a double-decker bus!!
I couldn't tell if that was a shop fo Dubliners to go to America on holiday, or for lst and ugly Americans in Dublin... I'm easily confused.
"Overalls For All Trades and Professions" - There are signs like this all over Dublin. Unfortunately, B.B. Hopkins moved to a street we didn't feel like looking up on our map from the hotel. Too bad, I could use some Software Engineer Overalls.
We couldn't figure this out. The grey building is the Garda (police) station, yet there were all these cars there blocking the police cars in... We couldn't tell if it was just an overflow impound lot or civil disobedience.
This was taken before 4pm. The sun goes down early in Dublin.
The traffic in the city is insane. I'm really glad we didn't rent a car.
There are great facades just littering the place. I couldn't even tell what this one was. I think it was on Pearce Street.
Balding guy, pointing scoldingly... Let's make a statue!! In front of a building that had a bunch of other statues in front of it.
This is O'Connell Street. It was packed with cars and pedestrians. My favorite part was that it had...
Fish and Chips!!! It was awesome, and I think I love chips. I do miss my ketchup though...
This is the Liffey. It's a river.
Sunset in Dublin over the Liffey. As soon as Sean and I started taking pictures, I saw thirty other folks whip out cameras and do the same. Trendsetters, we are!
The building between the moon and the lightpole is the tallest building in Dublin. According to our cab driver who took us from the airport to our hotel, it houses all the unions in Dublin.
Well, I don't think the folks on O'Connell Street could... Bush is a pretty powerful guy. Really. He has a military, bodyguards and a dog.
This was a really busy walking-only street with hundreds of stalls lining the middle of the street, and shops. It was all decorated for Christmas. I could smell the buying frenzy. I bought postcards... Oh, and took these pictures.
That's Sean being blurry on the right. Maybe it was me being blurry... we were both tired. My fish and chips must have had turkey in them, because as soon as we finished eating, I got REALLY tired.
Did I take this? Wow, this picture doesn't suck at all. I have no idea what it's for, but there's this giant spikey tower on O'Connell street. There's a picture of it behind the statue in one of the previous pictures.
Thank you, street!! I almost got run over because I looked to the RIGHT. Stupid American... These are painted at all crosswalks telling you where to look. I guess they got tired of running over tourists.
