2004.05.16 Baby Brian Day One

Literally seconds after he was born, this is the nurse whooshing him over to the baby warmer so they could get a good look at him.
Boy was he loud for a little fella. When Max was born, I was all the way across the room and couldn't see anything. With Brian, I was right there (literally). Doctor Gogo was awesome. She actually told me to go back and get the camera and said I could take pictures of anything I wanted. I really should have gotten a picture of her bright pink fingernail polish - but I didn't.
I love the little casting cloth hat, makes him look like a really angry smurf.
"Is he still crying?" check
"Is he pink like a Barbie box?" check
And then, he was spent and went to sleep. The kid sleeps a lot. Not that I mind. The past two days, I've had a very sleepy little boy sleeping on my chest while I look at his gigantic chipmunk cheeks, sweet little mouth, and his perfect tiny chin. Oh, and I finished Are You Dave Gorman? too.
He looks so peaceful, so new, so completely unspoiled. He was, and is... I love babies.
And here we are. Jen didn't feel like smiling for the picture, so I did. She was amazing. The last time we did this (OK, she did it, I watched and played cheerleader), I was a nervous wreck, and cried (although Jen told me not to) several times. This time, I was much more aware of what was going on, and watched a lot more of the actual procedure without feeling the least bit "icky". It's fascinating, and I still can't believe that my wife just went through it. She's amazing.
Brian decided he thinks she's amazing too and lets everyone know.
And one more time for the camera... CHEEEEEEEEEEESE.
Look at all that hair! It's the same color Max's was, and his is blond now. The boy sure can sleep, as I said before.
He was awake for all of twenty minutes the first day. Thankfully, Heather was there to document it.
I'll let you just look at the rest of them now, and I'll shut up. I'm really really tired.
My tired family... so beautiful, and now so big. Not Waltons big, but big enough for me, for now.
