2004.05.19-20 In the Room and Going Home

Why is Jen smiling? Banana split, courtesy of my mom. Banana Splits and percocet will make you smile through pretty much anything.
Max is at that very "Calvin" stage where he tries to do something silly whenever he sees a camera pointed at him. Jen is really getting into reading the story about Winnie the Pooh and the bees.
"Mommy, the bees are gonna kick Pooh in the BUTT!" - He didn't really say that, but he should have. Whatever it was, Jen thought it was funny. Oh, just a tip, never make a woman who's just had a C-section laugh. It's mean.
Max, there are no fish in this book... really. Jen is really happy with these pictures, by the way. She just had major surgery, is on a lot of drugs, and STILL looks great. So, there.
The curtain in the room became a stage curtain as Max and I (and other family members as they came to visit) put on plays for Jen and baby Brian. This was Danny Phantom in Mystery Meat (or something like that). I almost always played Danny's dad.
My heroic pose as Max picks a ghost off my butt.
Using the ghost finder to track down pesky ghosts so Danny (Max) can go catch them. This really was one of my finest performances. Forget Jud in Oklahoma, this was it.
Notice how I'm turned towards the audience and projecting. I'm sure the nurses appreciated it. Max was in awe of my raw stage presence.
Brian slept through every performance... he's a smart kid.
Jen has thought the boy looks like:
  • me
  • my brother Steve
  • her grandpa Ray
  • Karl Malden
That's a heroic profile, isn't it?
My lovely and amazing wife. Love you, sweetie.
Brian thinks so too.
Did I tell you he sleeps a lot?
Action shot!! This is mid-sneeze.
And right back to sleep...
The contented sleep that comes from a job well done.
Did I mention that I love babies? I really do, especially my babies.
He's a awake!! And I need to shave.
Dad, stop mugging for the cameras. This is my show.
I think he only woke up because he was afraid of my shirt.
Gettin' ready to go home. He may look tiny, but he's really long for a newborn.
WonderNurse Debbie helps us out. All the nurses at Reston Hospital are great. If we decide to do this again, we're definitely going back to Reston to have the baby.
