Hypocrisy Knows No Bounds

I’ve been able to stay away from writing about politics for a while now, but I just can’t stop myself on this one. The whole Terry Schiavo case is crazy. It smacks of hypocrisy and pandering, and a poor brain-dead woman is caught in the middle. It gets even worse when you realize that the Right only seems to care about white people with money who face terrible end-of-life decisions. When it’s a poor black family in Texas, I guess the “culture of life” doesn’t apply (see Blog for America).\
How horrible is that? George W. Bush signed the bill in Texas – if you can’t pay, your loved one gets the plug pulled. They did it to a six-month old baby, whose parents still had hope. Terry Schiavo’s husband, and her doctor’s have no hope left. Medically, she’s not coming back. Yet, the Right goes apeshit trying to save a woman past saving, but lets a poor black child die. What does that tell you?\
Unless you bow your head in the same direction as our’s, none of these lofty ideals like the “culture of life” apply to you. If you happen to be poor, or a different color, we’ll put you to death, bomb your country into the stone age, let you waste away without any help and if you happen to go bankrupt, well, you’re screwed. If you’re white, and rich, you can declare bankruptcy without consequence, get tax breaks for offshoring, and profit from the deaths of thousands. What a country!

I suppose that in Washington, you’re only as moral as the last bill you voted on.

The Shiavo case just irks me from the standpoint of ‘Big Brother’ watching and interfering in the last little detail of everything. And teh parents bug me too, that they would do all this just seems sad.

Well, I’ve been waiting for a place to type this and since we are on the “what a country” post, I have my chance.
I have a HUGE problem with the fact that the child rapist/murdered, Couey, who was a CONVICTED child molester, with a 30 year criminal history, was able to walk around freely and yet Martha Stewart has a monitoring device. WHAT kind of sense does this make?! How can I be proud to be American, to find strength and hope in our system when we do this?! A convicted child molester is asked nicely to check in with his parole officer when he gets a chance and Martha Stewart is the one we put an ankle monitor on?!?!?! HELP ME to understand this, please! I think I know. She lied about money… it’s all about the mighty dollar. Children? Seriously, talk about them being left behind… πŸ™

Canada would welcome you with open arms and dancing in the streets, you know… πŸ™‚

So that’s the answer. If you don’t like the country, get out- don’t point out that change needs to occur? So cliche.

I’m sure it was an invitation from our friendly neighbors up north (Neil’s Canadian, eh), not a call to abandon the “homeland” (does anyone else hate that term?).

Thank you, Kevin. Didn’t realize Neil was Canadian. But apparently, they won’t take me!

Which term, “homeland”? Yeah, that makes me cringe a little every time I hear it. But at least Bush & Ridge knew enough to not pick “fatherland” (although suddenly I’m picturing the two of them sitting around in the Oval Office singing ‘Tomorrow Belongs to Me’)…
