International Day Of…

I sent out a calendar entry for International Talk Like a Pirate Day at work this morning. Why? Because I can. I’m management now, I can do whatever I want, right? Anyway, here’s a short exchange I had with one of my co-workers in e-mail:

  • N: I can’t wait for International Caps Lock Day
  • Me: WHEN IS THAT?! IS IT TODAY?!\
I’m a funny guy. As soon as I hit send, I felt bad that I left out OMFG!! at the beginning. That would have made it even better.

Thanks for the reminder. I even have a skull and crossbones belt buckle now, so I’m all set. The tricky part will be working, “Aarg,” into as many patient interviews as possible without any of them freaking out. Considering my patient load on Fridays, there’s a good chance for some freaking out.
Question for any military people out there, can an eye patch be worn with the uniform?

By way of update, as there are few other people who will appreciate this feet, I managed to bring a bit o’ the piratical to work on The International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
In combined case conference at the base (so psychiatry residents and staff, psychology residents and staff, and social workers), we were discussing a socially isolated patient. So isolated in fact that his only hobby is…oh, oh, what’s it called? The presenter fumbled a bit over ‘mind sweeping’, ‘metal detecting’, maybe.
That’s when I pipe up with, in full character voice, “Aarg, he be lookin fer buried treasure.” Most people missed it, but Gretchen thought it was funny. The two psychology residents near me seemed to think it was weird. And I’m okay with that.
