Manic Monday

I have a raging cold and I already threw up once this morning. With that in mind I have only two goals today: clean up the over flowing trash and stock up the house with food and medicine. Eh, but Brian is sick too, plus I need to wash the dishes and take care of Kevin some (he over did it yesterday big time and is now paying for it.) Max, the lone healthy one, will be with Babba today. So yay for good timing!\
My parents are moving today- so, good luck parents!!!

Fess Up

I know there are some of you out there that started watching Veronica Mars over the summer. So, come on, post a reply and tell me what you thought.\
At work one day, Kevin got an IM out of blue that read, “I am hooked on Veronica Mars and it is all your wife’s fault.” Hee.\
I also got several members of my book club watching it. Yay!\
I should be using my power for greater good though, like trying to change the NFL overtime rules (cuz they suck).\
But Veronica Mars deserves to be the beneficiary of my power right now. Need some convincing?

  • Logan in the closet during “Return of the Kane” was heartbreaking. The music was great, the editing and camera work were great, and his acting there was outstanding. I will never be able to hear “Ventura Highway” again without waiting for the belt.
  • The Camelot kiss was The. Best. First. Kiss. EVER. Even though there was barely any dialog, you could tell what the two were thinking and feeling. I loved the sweeping camera work and the selection of the literal music. I also appreciated the awkwardness that followed. Very in character.
  • The scene where Aaron beats Trina’s abusive boyfriend was brilliant. Fucking brilliant, in fact. The music selection was inspired. Aaron fought perfectly in character, like a guy who is used to having choreographed, pretend fights with props. Loved it! (I honestly think I scared Kevin after this scene because of how much I loved it.)

Money

I want something that costs about \$5000. I have the money in the bank (more than required) and it would be a good use of our money, but I have a hard time letting go of money. So, if I do make this purchase, should I buy it in cash or finance it and then pay it off quickly (to lower the finance charges)? The benefit to using cash is that I can’t accidentally or foolishly spend the \$5000 as it sits in the bank. The drawback is that if there is an emergency, then I won’t have that \$5000 cash on hand. But I do have a high-limit credit card, and if there is an emergency then I shouldn’t feel bad about using the credit card, right? What do you think?

My rant

I am so bored and so over summer! I like the Fall. It needs to be Fall now. But it is still 3 months away. So, I need fudge and frozen custard to get me back in the swing of things. My diet lasted all of one day and then Kevin brought home some yummy cookies from Great Harvest and I ate them all. I’m such a master of will power, aren’t you jealous? My foot hurts so I can’t do what I should be doing. Brian is uber-cranky and I am sick of shows from the Food Network! (Max likes them though.) My little bitty cousin is getting married in a few months and that makes me feel old, cuz oh yea, I am old. The End. Continue what you were doing.\
PS- Watch Veronica Mars on Wednesdays, on UPN at 9pm and Fridays, on CBS at 8pm. Also, the DVDs are available for pre-order now.

I love…

Today is my mom’s birthday, so Happy Birthday Mom! You are wonderful, loving, fun to be with and a great mom. I am really lucky to have you. And so are Kevin, Max and Brian.\
Some of my other loves, in random order (cuz I can’t pick my fave):

  • Tivo
  • Italian food
  • iTunes
  • T-shirt sheets
  • Veronica Mars
  • The beach (the real beach, not the movie)
  • Arizona Basketball
  • naps
  • my van

Max Blows Out The Candles

Max Blows Out The Candles

He’s five!! Max is a great kid, and he had a really great birthday. Yes, the cake is homemade… and Max helped. There’s homemade buttercream frosting underneath the chocolate too (it didn’t stay together, so we used it in the middle and on the top).

Max and I have been cooking together a lot lately. I measure everything out and line it up. He dumps it in, and watches the KitchenAid do its thing. Well, except for the brownies. Those he stirred by himself.
