The World’s Largest Banyan Tree

  1. I have seen a Banyan tree in India located in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
    The Forset Dept.of this state says that this is the Longest tree with 1650 roots and 570 years old.
    Thimamma marammu fondly called is located in a village say 27Kms from Kadiri,Anantapur Dist of Andhra pradesh in India.

  2. That is correct. This is the largest tree in the world as per the Guinness Book of Records. It was our picnic spot when I was in my High School in N.P. Kunta (almost 20 years back). It is 5 KM from the High school if you walk in the jungle. We used to walk there from our school. It is the wonderful and must see place in the Anantapur(DT).

I am a native of Ananatapur District.Two years back I have visited the site of Thimamma marammu near a village Gooti bayalu.It was mentioned there as “largest tree in the world as per the Guinness Book of Records”.It is being well maintained & protected by A.P Forest Dept.It need to be brought as a Tourist place by A.P Tourism Dept.
