I find myself shaking my head a lot these days. I shake it when I hear of more anthrax cases popping up, when some idiot on the local news talks about things he knows nothing about, when people think that when the war in Afghanistan ends that the terrorism will stop. I’m just here shaking my head wondering how it came to this and not finding any answers.

If you’ve never heard it,
If you’ve never heard it, Living Colour‘s version of These Memories Can’t Wait is just the greatest song to hum along with while eating your morning bagel.
I’ve also been listening to a lot of Bela Fleck recently, and I just have to say how great Tales From the Acoustic Planet is. It has it all, and just gets better the more I listen to it.

DAMMIT!!! Thank you. I feel better
DAMMIT!!! Thank you. I feel better. I hate waiting on people. I’m tired of doing my job well, and then getting stuck because someone can’t finish their crap on time. And of course, when they’re late, I don’t get any more time. Their lateness gives me the shaft because now I have less time to do my part. AUGH! Why can’t everyone be me?
This moment of self-pity brought to you by Tums and Dr. Pepper.

Somebody linked to me!! I
Somebody linked to me!! I didn’t think this would be so cool, but it is! I think this brings the grand total to TWO. I’m movin’ up in the world.
That’s a funny concept. In 1997, I had a cool site. I got 30k hits a week on a personal site chock full of backgrounds and stupid stuff. I redesigned it every couple weeks. I was hot stuff. Then, I left PrimeHost and moved out here, and lost the site. Since then, I’ve been working as a corporate whore with no real urge to recreate the joy that was wacky.org. Maybe once I get Dsl… but, maybe not.

Why can’t I write stuff
Why can’t I write stuff like this? I don’t write enough, which is funny, because I write all day long. It’s just code. See, don’t you just love rhetorical questions?

Max is the coolest kid
Max is the coolest kid ever. While he’s having trouble speaking, he’s finally catching on the to whole sign language thing. He was sitting at the window watching the rain. When I asked him what he was doing, he turned around and did the sign for rain. He’s been doing the signs for mine and “more” (“mine” is a lot cuter as a sign than it is as a scream, let me tell you). When I woke up from my nap, he signed “daddy sleeps”, like a question. It was so cool! He’s a genius, I tell you, a genius.

In no particular order, for
In no particular order, for your Monday Morning, post-fantasy football loss, enjoyment:
Kevin’s Top 4 Foreign Films in No Particular Order
- Toto Le Hero: By Jaco van Dormael (he has two in the top four, how cool is he?), this is the story of two men switched at birth and the places their lives intersect. An amazing story with some very funny twists thrown in.
- The Eigth Day: Also by van Dormael, this is the story of George, a man with Down Syndrome. It’s sweet, romantic, funny and heartbreaking. A must-see. If you live in Sterling, I might even loan it to you.
- Kolya: This movie made me cry and cry, like a little baby. Maybe I’ll tell you why later. At the beginning of the film, you’ll find no reason to like the main character. By the end, you’ll wonder why you felt that way. Heartbreaking and sweet, but not in a Hallmark way.
- The Nasty Girl: The lies we tell ourselves about the past. A young woman investigates her small German town and their part in World War 2. A great movie.
- Five would be here, but i’m drawing a blank… sorry, i’m not caffeinated yet.

Anger
I’m so angry. Nothing to say that I won’t regret later.

Back to Music: I brought
Back to Music: I brought in a bunch of old CDs today, and am now listening to my Living Colour collection (no, dammit, it’s not the TV show). What amazing stuff. Between Corey Glover’s stellar voice and Vernon Reid’s guitar, they produced two of the best albums of the late 80’s/early 90’s. Vivid and Time’s Up were just great. Other than Nothingness, Stain was a waste. But, then, Vernon and Corey came out with solo albums that redeemed them. All worth checking out. Oh laws yes (I read The Stand the weekend I bought Time’s Up so that phrase is connected to the album for me).
