What’s Up?\
I went to Target this morning and got some clippers, because after two weeks of growth, I wasn’t using disposable razors to take care of it again. Cletus, among others, made an appearance. You’ve got the Porter, the Beefeater and of course, a couple Cletus.\
And when that was done and I properly shaved, I gave myself a haircut! I grabbed the number 3 guard and did the whole thing. Why? First, it’s summer. Second, I just didn’t want to have to deal with making an appointment and going to get it cut. The real reason? Simplicity. No more brushing, simple wash, dry and go. Simple is good.

Pictures Finally
A couple new photosets. I can upload pictures from the conference center, but can’t from the hotel. So, here they are and there are more to come. I’m way behind on pictures.
- Brian’s Birthday Party
- Edinburgh Day One
- Edinburgh High Street\
Enjoy! There are more to come.
Flickr Wandering
Whenever I’m stuck for something to do (like it’s 7:45 on a Thursday morning, I’m stuck on the kitchen computer, and not awake enough to think straight), I like to wander Flickr. I usually start with the most interesting photos of the last 7 days page, find someone I’ve not seen before, and then crawl through their photostream. Today, I found a great portrait photographer who apparently lives in Baltimore. His portraits are funny and beautiful (there’s one of a pug dog on a pink lawn chair that’s priceless). He also has an amazing photo of Muhammad Ali.\
Sometimes, I try to find people from the same country. Right now, two of my favorite Flickr-tographers are hkvam and _rebekka. They both have breathtaking landscape shots of Iceland. Oh, and I want one of these. (you can buy some of them, and am wondering if Jen would ever let me do this.\
Brian wants to go play now.
Pictures Of Me Looking Stupid
I spent a lot of time making faces. Here’s a selection:
- From Porter
- I give Porter the thumbs up
- Also from Porter
- Betsy likes my stickers
- Cindy thinks I have a secret\
Several people were kind enough to take pictures during our panel:\
These are all from the talented (and gimpy) Cindy Li: - Before we began
- I think this is before we started too (there’s a funny story about why Arun didn’t have a name badge thingie, which I’ll tell when I’m not exhausted)
- Marc Canter says ‘hi’
- Me, looking evil
- Jeremy Keith asks us a question and Eric Meyer and Susie Wychak are in the first row
- Look at the size of his head!
- My awesome panelists and me\
Leia took one too\
Needless to say, I’m home. I’m extremely tired and my foot hurts. I have an appointment tomorrow morning with Doctor Wilson to see if I’ve done anything horrific to my ankle. Keep your fingers crossed.
Since I Can’t Put Up Photos…
Look at Daniel’s – I forgot the USB cable for my camera at home. Silly me.\
I did document several of the courses we had at L’Ermitage du Riou, which was, as usual, amazing. We’re winding down, and will end up closing down the joint as one of the last two working groups still meeting. We CSS folk just don’t know when to stop.\
I have more stories, but we’ve just had a breakthrough that when it’s implemented will change the way we write CSS. Gotta pay attention!\
This isn’t it, but if you’re a designer or use CSS, please please please go read the new Advanced Layout CSS3 module and post your feedback. This module is very important, and could change the way we build web products if we ever get the browser folks to implement it.
All Hawaii, All The Time
I didn’t go, but I’ve got all the pictures! Here are the sets from the trip that we’ve done so far:
- At The Beach – Boys in bathing suits, posing for pictures.
- Max Gets Lei’d – And he did.
- Waiting At The Hilton – Waiting, and taking pictures
- The Polynesian Cultural Center – natives showing up, and bored little boys!
- At The Cabin – boys doing cute things in tropical attire!\
Coming tomorrow (or Sunday): The submarine and helicopter rides, the lava field, Pali lookout, the North Shore, Sea Life Park, The Dole Pineapple Plantation and more! Tune in!\
I’m tired. Good night.
Old Pictures – King of TP
I was going through old pictures in iPhoto trying to organize the chaos (over 9,000 pictures from the last five years, only the last two years in categories) and I found these.\
Max had just turned four (I think) and got into the toilet paper stash. He created snow, a sandbox, a hat, and I got a couple shots of him mid-revel. I love this one so much, I can’t even express it.
Gore Gore Gore
And I’m not talking about the 2000 election. Yeah, I’m totally over it by now. This is my favorite picture of my poor ankle. That incision is impressive, isn’t it? It’s three times longer than my ACL scar. It’s longer than Jen’s caesarian scar (she said I should post that bit of info).\
I’m stuck on the couch for at least another week, foot elevated the whole time, no doing anything except stuff I can do on the couch while drugged up (hence the tag experiments from last night). I wonder what I’ll do tonight when I can’t sleep any more, I’m uncomfortable and I’ve watched all the DVD’s in the house…
The Sun Breaks Through
I had a rough night last night. Sleeping with a ten pound ski boot wrapped in a pillowcase on your foot is not easy, even with vicodin. This morning isn’t much easier. I’m trying to concentrate, and listen to music, but I keep thinking about Ireland for some stupid reason, and Athassel Priory in particular (where this picture was taken). I’m not sure why.
Brian, Being Cute
He can’t help it, he just is. I love this age. He’s not old enough to talk back, but is old enough to play. He’s so happy most of the time, whether we’re rolling the ball, playing peek-a-boo, he’s chasing Max around the basement, or we’re wrestling (watch out for his flying elbow, it’s a killer). Everything is new, interesting, and unfortunately, usually gets eaten.
