My beloved love seat found a nice new home. YAY! Kevin described the couple as very happy and young, which automatically makes me feel old.\
I spent all weekend shopping, though I didn’t get very far on my list. Note to self: next time leave the cute shoes at home and wear the comfortable ones. I was so wrecked by the last night that I could only veg in front of some Tivoed football games. The sound of football games coming through the tv is so soothing to me, I ended up snoozing unintentionally with the kids crawling all over and mauling me in my sleep. I think Kevin and I should make a CD of these sounds and market it to sports enthusiasts, like one of those peaceful, relaxing CDs of ocean breezes and gentle rains. I bet we could make millions! Hee.\
The finale of the first mystery on Veronica Mars is tonight (The CW, 9pm EST). I can’t wait to find out if my suspicions are right. Then a new mystery will start. I wonder what it will be?\
The Tivo in the sun room is acting up, freezing every 5 seconds. I want to shoot the darn thing and put it, and us, out of its misery. But Brian still thinks there is value is watching Go, Diego, Go in a herky-jerky manner. Just hearing it is driving me crazy. I think I will go watch some football to calm down.

TV and stuff
Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and I have pies to bake, so let’s make this quick, ok?\
Heroes: The confrontation was anti-climatic. Claire basically ran away and didn’t need anyone to protect her after all. Huh. So, the world is saved now? I know it isn’t as simple as that, but so far that has been the prevalent thought.\
Glad to see the waitress back. She is my favorite character, even though she just barely showed up.\
Milo V. NEEDS a haircut. His ‘Gary Oldman from The 5th Element‘ hairstyle makes me want to scratch out my eyes.\
Gilmore Girls: LOGAN! YAY! I really enjoyed the Logan and Rory fight. I love them together, but they fight so well and entertainingly that I love the fights too. This fight seemed both organic and in character. I totally loved Rory being called out about being “one of us.” She is very much one of them when it suits her, as in “But I’m a Gilmore!” She does seem to kinda straddle the line between society and not- the society folks see her as an interloper but the non-society see her as uber-privildeged. I do wish Rory’d have said, “I used to live in a shed!” to Logan. My personal theory is that someone’s early images of themselves stick the best, so she sees herself as a poor and nerdy outsider, because that is how she was as a small child.\
I was also kind of waiting for Logan to drop the bomb that he’d invited internet newspaper guy just so he could meet Rory and potentially hire her. But no bombshell, so no extra fighting- which whew, I am glad. I think it would have been awesome and in character for Logan to do that though, because he thinks she is a great writer and wants to help her, but still let her talent and abilities actually get her the job.\
I also like that she wants to get her own place. It will still be with someone else’s money (her dad’s), so I kind of wish she’d wait 6 months and try to pay for it herself, but at least this will give her the start/taste of independence like she’s never experienced before.\
Boo to elopements. I don’t like them and think if you are eloping, there is probably something wrong with the situation.\
Veronica Mars: I love Dick. Can never get enough! The jokes were hysterical AND totally inappropriate, but that is how this society roles, which is reflected in VM. We joke about everything, even child molesting pop stars and dead astronauts. I don’t think the show is making a grand statement about women/power/feminism, etc. with this plotline. It is merely a story. This ain’t Star Trek, y’all. No moral tale to be found here. Did love the Heroes shoutout though!\
Some asshats posting on TWoP are saying that Chip’s attack wasn’t rape. Which, Grrrrrrr. Those posters are so stupid, I just can’t even let my mind go there.\
I am pretty sure I know who did it and have suspected him from almost the beginning. Which, poo. If I am smart enough to figure it out, then the writers didn’t try hard enough. I would love to be wrong though!\
30 Rock: Totally funny. Alec Baldwin is amazing (something I never thought I would write) and I hope he gets an Emmy nom from this.\
Um, I think that is all I watched. Have you been watching anything good recently?\
Have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving everyone. And super Happy Birthday, Julie (even though you don’t read this, you big slacker). Love you! -
Embarrassing Confession
While watching the latest Supernatural, I screamed after a “startling” horror trope and then after I got over the startle-factor and saw the content, I screamed AGAIN out of sheer FRIGHT. I very quickly decided it would be very smart to tuck my feet under my legs instead of letting them hang off the end of the recliner, where any old thing could grab them. Heh.\
Seriously, watching this show in the dark, in the basement, on a large screen tv, all by myself is awesome and the only way to watch Supernatural. Wheeeeee.\
Check out this quick preview of upcoming AWESOMENESS: -
Ooooh, man
I soooo owe Kevin a huge apology. He tried to get me into The Office, the US version and I just wasn’t having it. But then I actually started watching it and the show is amazing and so freakin’ funny. It took me a couple of episodes to get a feel for the rhythm and flow of the show, but now I am totally in love. If you haven’t checked it out, you really should.\
In other news, my BFF’s birthday is tomorrow and I just mailed her present today, because that is how I roll. But shhhh, don’t tell her and ruin the surprise, even though the present is going to be very late. (She doesn’t read this blog, she is a slacker, because that is how she rolls.)\
ETA– Oy vey! It isn’t my BFF’s bday that is tomorrow, it is my parents’ anniversary that is tomorrow (the same day TomKat are expected to get married). My BFF’s bday is actually next week. While I doubt the present will get there in time, I can totally blame the Thanksgiving holiday instead of my procrastination. Score! -
Back to the Business at Hand
Supernatural is on tonight! Yippppeeeeee! Linda Blair, yes that Linda Blair, will be in tonight’s episode. Check it out! (Thursdays at 9 ET on The CW)

Dick rocks!
Kevin finally watched Veronica Mars last night so I can post all of my favorite lines and points, but eh, it’s so three days ago and I just don’t have the energy. Kevin laughed so loud at some parts, I am sure the kids way upstairs could hear him.\
I still loved all of Dick’s scenes. It’s interesting to see how the actor who plays Dick started out as a glorified extra, with a breakout performance of “Logan!” (HA!) that gradually got him a starring role. In S1, Logan was the jerk who reminded Veronica how far she’d fallen. Then the writers made Logan so wonderfully complex & layered, the actor was so charismatic, and he & Kristen Bell have so much crackling chemistry together that the character moved from ‘one-dimensional jerk’ to leading-woobie-man-status. So the writers made Jerk 2.0 in the form of Dick. Much to the happiness of that actor, I am sure. He gets all of the great, amusing, memorable, and politically insensitive lines that Logan used to get.\
Someone at TWoP posted this as one of their favorite lines: She came in with a guy. She’s falling asleep on my magazine rack and he’s trying to scrape together enough change to buy provolactics.\
And this is the conversation it spawned:\
Me: I am not sure what a provolactic is. Is that the type of birth control they use in Utah?\
Friend 1: It’s not birth control, it’s the name for Utah mothers who breastfeed.\
Me: Hahahaha.\
Friend 2: Huh. I thought it was cheese for the lactose intolerant.\
So tell me, internetters, what is your definition of provolactic? -
Yea, baby!
I am totally in love with Dick.\
Who’s with me?\
Other Veronica Mars thoughts:\
This ep had the look and feel of season one. Very dark, literally, which is awesome. And Veronica was back to pissing people off, alienating herself as she investigates. Super yay to that. The show needs to keep up this angle. But, um… she has a picture of the rapist? So, the mystery is solved now? I seriously doubt that, but this picture bit confuses me.\
On a totally shallow note- I dislike that the actress who plays Parker got to keep her hair while the other rape victims are showed without hair. They could have at least put Parker in some fake-looking wigs.\
In Gilmore Girls news- They are rerunning quirky town storylines! The great pickle smell of ’06 is the same as the rotten eggs of… whenever that was. Boo to that. This ep proved that they can get rid of Luke. And the stupid Aerie girls need to go. And yay for Logan in the flesh. -
TV Talk
According to Salon: NBC will also restructure its early prime-time programming to focus on cheaper, unscripted shows like reality series and game shows.\
Uggg. Really, more reality crap? It’s like we’re in the Dark Ages of TV. Yes, there are bright spots, but waaaay too many reality shows already. It sounds like NBC is throwing in the towel. Which is so much funnier after this week’s Studio 60.\
Heroes– Everyone, including Kev, keep saying how awesome this show is. All I see is The 4400 without the interesting bits. So much melodrama. The politician and the stripper bore me to tears. As do the painter, the dr’s son, and the cute neighbor. Milo V’s hair is too distracting for me to be bored by him. I am totally into the chubby cop and the Asian guy. More time with them, please! It’s like the writer had a great mini series planned, and then the studio told him to stretch it out to three times its needed length. There is way too much talk, talk, talk, whine, whine, whine, going on.\
Battlestar Galatica– Not a fan of the premiere, am bored by the Iraq War parallel, and want the peeps back on a spaceship where they belong! Think it is amazingly ballsy of the writers to have that one guy in a fat suit for so long. Not much greatness going on, imo. Still love their use of music though.\
Veronica Mars– I am not sure what to write. It is an entertaining show. Watching with Kevin is awesome because he laughs at the great one-liners and just enjoys it for what it is. But, it isn’t the same kind of show it was in its first season. And it never will be. I just need to readjust my expectations. I still heart Rob Thomas, so I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer. But, for my street cred to remain intact (HA! Come on, laugh, it’s ok), I must be honest. We’ll always have season one, though, and that is the single best season of television ever!\
Gilmore Girls– I was a fan of Luke/Lorelai until they butchered them last season. While it is sometimes true that two very different people would have problems being in a relationship together, it doesn’t necessarily make for good or successful TV. I am also a fan of the Chris/Lorelai pairing. (Call me fickle!) I wish the writers had killed off Luke(because I didn’t want to see the relationship fail, but it couldn’t realistically be successful either), and then Lorelai could have eventually gotten with Chris. I’ve heard the actor who plays Luke is a pain in the ass and most of these plot lines are so Lauren Graham doesn’t have to work with him as much. If that is true, they should either fire him or tell them all to grow up and do their job.\
You know what else isn’t good TV? Logan on the phone in every scene he is in. That got old during the first episode. Please let something interesting happen.\
I think that is all of the TV shows I watch. What have you been watching lately? -
Supernaturally Sound
A friend of mine wrote this recently, after she mainlined the first season of Supernatural in one week, and it amuses me to no end:
This show BOWLED me over.\
You have no idea how much time The Sis and I spent mocking this thing all year. And now I feel like I totally owe an apology to everyone I’ve ever made fun of for watching this show. ‘Cause it’s fuckin’ fabulous.\
Honestly, before this fall, the only thing I had ever heard anyone say about **Supernatural** was that it was The Pretty Boys Show, leading me to believe that was ALL the show had to offer. I’ve never been to partial to the typical ‘cardboard-cut-out’ pretty boys in my television which is why I never checked it out before. But after finally going through it for myself, I have to say, it’s a crying shame that the series has been marked as such. Because the show is actually great in its own right. THERE IS SO MUCH HERE FOR ME TO LOVE.YEA, BABY! I want my apology spelled out in Oreos. Heh. Oh, and hey! Supernatural is on tonight (Thursday), on The CW at 9pm EST. Cool, huh?

Kevin!
My husband comes home today! Yippeee! And there is a new Supernatural episode on tonight! Yippeee! And Max has been cleared of all breathing/lung/pneumonia/coughing problems! Yippeee! And I am going out to lunch today. Yippeee! Did I mention that my husband is coming home tonight? Yippeee! And he will probably be willing to watch Supernatural with me. Super yippeee!\
It is ok that NONE of you commented on my awesome link in my previous post. Really, I don’t need validation for the effort I put into this blog. Really, I don’t. I am fine. Just keep reading and not leaving comments. It’ll be ok. No skin off my nose…
